Librarian

Position Title: Librarian
Reports to: Academic Dean / School of Medicine
Location: New Anglia University Campus, Anguilla
Contract Type: Full-time

 

Position Overview

The Librarian plays an important role in supporting the academic community by managing library resources, assisting students and faculty, and ensuring access to learning materials. This position does not require prior professional training in library sciences, as the University will provide full training and guidance. The role is ideal for someone who is organized, service-oriented, and eager to learn.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Support students and faculty in locating, borrowing, and using library resources.
  • Manage the cataloguing, circulation, and shelving of books, journals, and electronic resources.
  • Maintain an orderly and welcoming library environment conducive to study.
  • Assist in the integration of online and electronic resources.
  • Provide orientation sessions to help new students understand how to use library resources.
  • Carry out administrative tasks, such as updating records, maintaining databases, and preparing usage reports.
  • Report technical or resource-related issues to the Academic Dean or IT support.
  • Participate in training sessions and continuously improve library-related skills.

 

Qualifications and Skills

  • High school diploma or equivalent (university-level studies an advantage but not required).
  • No prior library training required; training will be provided by the University.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Basic computer literacy (Word, Excel, internet, email).
  • Enthusiasm for learning and supporting academic life.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with colleagues.
