Australian students can pursue medical studies at New Anglia University through two distinct program options: a 5-year Premedical and MD program for undergraduate entry students, or a 4-year MD program for graduate entry students. Clinical rotations are completed exclusively in hospitals in the U.S.. The program meets the Australian Medical Council (AMC) standards, enabling students to sit for the AMC Computer Adaptive Test (CAT) Multiple Choice Question (MCQ) Examination and the Clinical Examination, ultimately qualifying them to practice medicine in Australia. Specifically:

  1. The University is listed in the AMC database of eligible medical schools.
  2. Clinical rotations in U.S. hospitals offer students a broad range of experiences across various specialties and healthcare settings, providing extensive practical exposure and interaction with patients and medical professionals. Key components include:
    • Ward Rounds: Bedside instruction led by attending physicians to monitor and discuss patient progress.
    • Grand Rounds: Presentations on complex cases and medical advancements, fostering interdisciplinary education.
    • Morning Report: Daily discussions focused on overnight developments and recent admissions.
    • Work Rounds: Collaborative meetings to manage patient care and strengthen team dynamics.
    • Attending Rounds in Clinic: Observing patient consultations with attending physicians for clinical mentorship.
    • Dedicated Teaching: Structured learning through lectures, case reviews, and hands-on workshops.
    • Self-Directed Learning: Access to learning materials, including libraries and online databases, with staff oversight.
  3. Integrated achievement tests offered by the National Board of Medical Examiners (NBME) covering material typically learned during basic science education and core clinical clerkships. Students need to sit for the:
    • Comprehensive Basic Science Subject Exam (CBSE) at the end of the Basic Sciences.
    • Comprehensive Clinical Science Subject Exam (CCSE) at the end of the Clinical Rotations.
  4. AMC CAT MCQ and Clinical Examination preparation courses are available in addition to the Medical program.
